How do I build a standard-looking website, instead of a full SellFolio project?

Applicability: SellFolio 4.0 Complete only

A SellFolio project typically consists of an Intro Animation, Main Menu, several Modules, Quick Info pages, and a Contact page.  If you don't want all of these sections, you can build a project that resembles a standard-looking website.  These techniques only apply to SellFolio 4.0 Complete.

These are the main elements of this technique:

  • Your project will consist of a single Slide Module, and you'll build custom navigation controls.  These navigation controls will be programmed to jump from Slide to Slide within the same Slide Module.

  • Make a Slide Module in Step 4, and edit it Live Layout mode.

  • Decide how many Slides you'll need, and what each Slide will represent.  For instance, your Slides might be assigned as follows:
    Slide 1: Home page
    Slide 2: Gallery 1, image 1
    Slide 3: Gallery 1, image 2
    Slide 4: Gallery 1, image 3
    Slide 5: Gallery 2, image 1
    Slide 6: Gallery 2, image 2
    Slide 7: Gallery 2, image 3
    Slide 8: Pricing page
    Slide 9: Contact page

  • Based on the information above, you'll need five navigation buttons on every Slide: "Home Page," "Gallery 1," "Gallery 2," "Pricing Information," and "Contact Us."

  • With this in mind (based on the example above), make 9 blank Slides.

  • Go back to Slide 1, and place all content that will be common among all Slides, such as a logo graphic and the five navigation buttons mentioned.

  • Make your "Home Page" button go to Slide 1, make your "Gallery 1" button go to Slide 2, make your  "Gallery 2" button go to Slide 5, make your  "Pricing Information" button go to Slide 8, and make your "Contact Us" button go to Slide 9.

  • Now, delete slides 2 through 9, since they were just blank "dummy" slides that we generated, so that we could program our navigation buttons.

  • Go back to Slide 1, and duplicate it 9 times, to make the real versions of those Slides.

  • Go into each slide and place your multimedia content (text, photos, etc.).

  • You'll also need to place "Next" and "Back" buttons in your two image galleries.  For instance, in Slide 2, place a "Next" button that has an action of Go To Slide 3.  In Slide 3, place a "Next" button that has an action of Go To Slide 4, and so forth.

  • Save and exit from your Module Live Layout.

  • Edit your Navigation Bar in Step 4-C, and place all objects off the screen.  Make the Graphic Region have a transparency value of 0.

  • In Step 3-I, choose the last option, so that your Intro Animation plays, and then immediately launches your Slide Module.

DESIGN TIP: SellFolio allows you to control the tint color of your button objects.  You can use this feature to make all buttons the same tint color, but to use a unique button tint color to make the current page's button stand out as the current page.  Just select the given button object in Live Layout mode, click its Edit button, and select a tint color from the available color swatches.
