 Knowledge Article 0301:
My sound file plays at a different pitch or speed in my SellFolio
Applicability: SellFolio
4.0 Complete and SellFolio 3.0 versions
_________________________________________________
Explanation 1
A pitch or speed change usually indicates a sample rate
incompatibility between your audio file and the rates allowed by the
Flash player, which is used to run SellFolio.
You must use .MP3 files in your SellFolio projects. Part of
the .MP3 encoding process (i.e., the process of creating an audio
file into the .MP3 format) is to downsample sounds. Downsample means
lowering sample rates to reduce data in the file. The lower the
bitrate, the more downsampling occurs and the smaller the file
becomes. Note that the downsampling occurs during the .MP3 encoding
process.
The following sample rates are supported for native .MP3 files:
44.1khz
22.05khz
11.025khz
In addition to these rates, some .MP3 encoders can also export to
32khz, 16khz and 8khz. Flash, and hence SellFolio, does not support
these sample rates and will incorrectly interpret the data causing
the file to playback at a higher or lower pitch.
Solution 1
To insure your audio is compatible, make sure your .MP3 encoder
always outputs at one of the above three sample rates, or choose one
of these three sample rates before encoding your .MP3 files. Some
encoders allow you to choose the output sample rate, others do not.
You may need to research your encoder to find out what sample rates
it exports at various bitrates.
